About the Sanctuary

Although all wildlife is important and must be preserved, we decided to focus specifically on birds.

Playa del Carmen is the number 1 destination for digital nomas and a part time home for people who is running away from the harsh cold weather from the north, just like birds, migrating and moving to a better place. we decided to create a shelter for them just like it is for the people.

Aligned with mexico's fauna and flora preservation laws and with a solid alliance with different ngo's, we provide safe sanctuary for rescued animals and plants with the help of a specialized biologist and a resident veterinary.

below you can find a list of what you can find inside inuk's grounds, Both plants and animals can reside permanently or temporary depending on the care they require.

Ecotourism & Expeditions

inuk holds alliances with several NGO's, local tour guides and wildlife professionals providing experiences that can go from visiting Ancient Ruins to re-discover an extinct species.

Activities require different skill levels from amateur to professional expeditions, please get in contact for further information.

Ask for our calendar of activities to join in our next expedition.

Activities

Reforestation Expeditions

Because INUK holds a reproductive garden, when the plants have grown enough, they have to be moved to the wild so they can naturally grow and reclaim the land where they were removed from.

This activity is done with the assistance from the ngo nuuktal.

Wildlife Photography

With professional Wildlife photographers, we organice ethical field trips to photograph and document endemic and migratory species. This helps document and study the fauna and to raise awareness for conservation efforts.

Cenote Diving

Quintana Roo has more than 2,000 cenotes to explore, with our instructors we can help you earn your certification and discover the world that is below us.

Cleaning Brigades

INUK & Nuuktal get together for cleaning brigades to help preserve the ecosystem. this cleaning trips can go from mangroves to deep cenotes.

Ecotourism & Hiking

When the weather is right we explore the mangroves with the locals and go fishing following their techniques and instructions.

we can also experience with them their ancient cacao rituals and learn from them how to live off the land.

Workshops

Partnered with Nuuktal & Proyecto Santa MarĂa we work on creating awareness for the protection and preservation of the fauna and flora.

This workshops are open to enyone who wants to assist and can go from how to create a sustainable in-house garden to how to help preserve the wildlife in the area.
